New research has found that 9.3 million British adults benefit from some form of sports coaching each year, in a boost to the fitness sector.

The study carried out by YouGov on behalf of UK Coaching also revealed that a majority of people feel coaching is an “overwhelmingly positive experience” that improves their physical and mental wellbeing.

Many gyms and sports centres are investing in specialist coaching programmes in a bid to meet demand for professional training. Shaun Stafford’s City Athletic facility in London was set up to offer city workers the opportunity to train like a modern-day athlete under a top-level team of trainers and coaches, while Jamie Alderton’s GrenadeFIT centre in Chichester provides workout sessions run by some of the UK’s top body transformation coaches to enhance clients’ fitness, nutrition and mindset.

“A lot of people are looking to get more out of their gym these days, and expert coaching is an area that’s clearly growing in popularity as this survey suggests,” said Mark Kozo, Head of Marketing at Portman Asset Finance.

“Those fitness centres that invest in state-of-the-art equipment and high-level coaching and training sessions are reaping the rewards as people want to experience more niche areas of physical activity. If you want to expand your gym’s offering, or are an entrepreneur looking to launch a new business in the fitness sector, we can help you secure the equipment and resources you need.

“Asset finance allows you to make fixed regular payments over an agreed period of time, saving you from the cost of buying equipment outright and preserving your working capital. Payments on our lease finance agreements are also tax deductible.

“We can fund any sort of asset from the latest treadmills, squat racks, kettlebells and metabolic resistance equipment to the premises flooring, changing rooms and member management systems.”
